David Weinstein built his leadership philosophy across three very different arenas and brings the best of all three to Wayport Consulting.
As a Naval Officer with 13 years of active duty service, and currently serving as a Commander in the Navy Reserve, David learned leadership where the stakes were real. Starting with small teams of 10 to 12 sailors, he discovered early that what separates a group of people from a high-performing team isn't talent. It's trust, productive conflict, and a shared commitment to results. As his career advanced, he took on key leadership positions overseeing hundreds of personnel dispersed across the globe — where clarity of priorities, organizational alignment, and deliberate communication weren't leadership ideals. They were operational necessities.
After active duty, David took those lessons into corporate America, where he applied them inside a Fortune 50 company by navigating the complexity, scale, and organizational dynamics that come with operating at the highest levels of business. He then took the reins of an apparel brand, experiencing firsthand what it takes to build culture, lead a team, and drive results when everything is on the line.
That combination of military discipline, corporate experience, and entrepreneurial grit is what David brings to every client engagement. He's not a theorist. He's led real teams, inside real organizations, under real pressure. And now he helps Rhode Island leaders do the same.
